Index was once a small and close-knit community, but the town located on the western side of Washington state has grown in recent years beyond anyone's expectations. It is the ideal place for those who work in Seattle but can't afford the city's high real estate prices, and for others the natural beauty attracts them to the town. And Index truly is a beautiful place - surrounded by thick evergreen trees, tall mountains and glistening rivers and lakes. While weather is typically rainy with overcast skies even this does nothing to take away from the beauty of the town, and it is only highlighted further when the heavy snow graces the town and caps the mountains in winter. To many, Index would seem like a paradise. And yet lurking beneath this visual beauty there is more to this town than anyone might ever imagine...

Current Time in Index, Washington:
PLAYBYS: Sims from the games Sims 2, 3 and 4 are used to visually represent player’s original characters (no characters from within the franchise are allowed). But, you do not need these games to join and roleplay! If you wish, you can post a thread in our out of character / general forum and list as many physical details about your character as you wish. The members of Index will happily try and make a character for you, and you can choose which one you feel best fits your vision.

AVATARS: Avatars should display your characters face clearly and should be at least 200 pixels tall, and 200 pixels wide.

THREADING & POSTING: When threading with multiple characters, it is important that you post only when it is your turn. This can be acheived by taking note of who has posted before you, and remember you are to always post after them. If you were the thread starter, then it is your turn after the final person has joined your thread.

When creating a thread you are required to place a tag before the title. Here are a list of types of thread you can create and how to tag each one:

[Open] Anyone is welcome to join your thread, with no limit on the number of characters.
[Open - #] Anyone is welcome to join your thread, but there is a limit on the number of characters who can join. Replace the # with how many extra characters you will allow to join your thread.
[Private] Only specific characters can join your thread.
[Closed] This tag should be used for threads that only involve your character.

ACTIVITY: To keep threads moving, people are encouraged to post within three days when it is their turn. If you do not post within three days, and you have not asked people to wait for you, it is possible you will be skipped. Keep in mind this is just a suggestion. While we'd love for everyone to be active every day, we understand that real life and other hobbies are just as important, if not more. We want you to be active because you want to be, not because a rule is telling you to be.

MATURITY RATING: Public threads should all be PG. If roleplayers above the age of 18 wish to post content that could be could be considered graphic then it should be hidden from view using the [hide] [/hide] code, which will enable only those in the threads and administrators to view the content.

I knew it wasn’t going to be a positive reaction, and why I thought I could calm her, I had no fucking clue. I was starting to get annoyed, not necessarily at her, but yes, a little bit. Mostly at myself, this could have been handled better, right? Could I not have given her the chance to try without my deadly ultimatum? No, the motivation was necessary. But the way I’d done it, clearly I needed more time to think about it. I just wasn’t sure how much time I had.

As far as fixing the situation at hand, what did I do? I couldn’t just take it back, not yet. I needed her to know this was real. Maybe.. comforting Dr. Ben wasn’t the answer. It was time to man up, and tell her what I wanted.

Laurel, get a grip. This is nothing, this is a flesh wound with some dirt. I began pacing, which was becoming a regular thing of mine. No need to breath, so many weird human habits just unnecessary, I needed somewhere for my energy to go. There is a group, right here in Index. They call themselves the Army of God. Just find them, tell me what you can, and we’re done. I’ll fix you. As good as new. Better than new. I needed to get back downstairs, I knew it, though, I clearly had bigger things going on. All I can tell you, is that there is a church. St. Paul’s? I think? That’s all I’ve got. But they’re dangerous. Just tell me what you can, that’s all I need, Laurel. There, it was out. She could take it or leave it. I knew she’d need time, she’d need time to digest what had just happen let alone to do what I asked.

I’m going back now. You have my number, and you know what I want. And with that, I left the room, fast enough that I knew she wouldn’t be able to catch up. I was done. The grenade was now in her hands.

I'd been crying. I was sad. I mean, I wasn't prepared to die. But there was something Ben said that made my blood run cold. I looked him square in the eye and started to speak, The one who has lost their grip is you, if you think that what you did is even remotely acceptable. At first I hadn't been able to believe what was happening because it was impossible, but now my disbelief stemmed from his words, his explanations. They were ridiculous. He was trying to rationally explain something that had none. What had done was wrong. Ethically wrong. Morally wrong. Just plain wrong.

I'm a doctor. I think I know what a flesh wound is, and this... this most certainly is not. I thought about how Ben had described it when we had discussed it "He's got like... the alphabet." He wasn't wrong, A, B, C, HIV. These were not the kind of letters that I wanted inside my body.

And what had he gone through all this for? So I could get information from some crazy group called the Army of God. The only thing he could tell me was that they operated out of some church? This was silly, who was even to say that I could get the information he wanted? Was he going to leave me to die because I wasn't capable of what he asked? How would I seek medical treatment in the meantime? I would have to explain how I had acquired these conditions. No matter how Ben spun it there would be irreversible damage. Who knew what was happening to my liver right now? And my immune system?

When Ben left there was nothing I could do to stop him. I didn't want to either. I needed to go home, get myself together, and figure out what I was going to do.
