setting
Index was once a small and close-knit community, but the town located on the western side of Washington state has grown in recent years beyond anyone's expectations. It is the ideal place for those who work in Seattle but can't afford the city's high real estate prices, and for others the natural beauty attracts them to the town. And Index truly is a beautiful place - surrounded by thick evergreen trees, tall mountains and glistening rivers and lakes. While weather is typically rainy with overcast skies even this does nothing to take away from the beauty of the town, and it is only highlighted further when the heavy snow graces the town and caps the mountains in winter. To many, Index would seem like a paradise. And yet lurking beneath this visual beauty there is more to this town than anyone might ever imagine...

Current Time in Index, Washington:
rules
PLAYBYS: Sims from the games Sims 2, 3 and 4 are used to visually represent player’s original characters (no characters from within the franchise are allowed). But, you do not need these games to join and roleplay! If you wish, you can post a thread in our out of character / general forum and list as many physical details about your character as you wish. The members of Index will happily try and make a character for you, and you can choose which one you feel best fits your vision.

AVATARS: Avatars should display your characters face clearly and should be at least 200 pixels tall, and 200 pixels wide.

THREADING & POSTING: When threading with multiple characters, it is important that you post only when it is your turn. This can be acheived by taking note of who has posted before you, and remember you are to always post after them. If you were the thread starter, then it is your turn after the final person has joined your thread.

When creating a thread you are required to place a tag before the title. Here are a list of types of thread you can create and how to tag each one:

[Open] Anyone is welcome to join your thread, with no limit on the number of characters.
[Open - #] Anyone is welcome to join your thread, but there is a limit on the number of characters who can join. Replace the # with how many extra characters you will allow to join your thread.
[Private] Only specific characters can join your thread.
[Closed] This tag should be used for threads that only involve your character.

ACTIVITY: To keep threads moving, people are encouraged to post within three days when it is their turn. If you do not post within three days, and you have not asked people to wait for you, it is possible you will be skipped. Keep in mind this is just a suggestion. While we'd love for everyone to be active every day, we understand that real life and other hobbies are just as important, if not more. We want you to be active because you want to be, not because a rule is telling you to be.

MATURITY RATING: Public threads should all be PG. If roleplayers above the age of 18 wish to post content that could be could be considered graphic then it should be hidden from view using the [hide] [/hide] code, which will enable only those in the threads and administrators to view the content.

Calm River Rafting & Camping Event in Woods | Dark, dry | Sun Apr 5th/Monday Apr 6th 00:30am

OOC Message

Shoes have zips at the side.

I stumbled forward, nearly tripping over a guide rope of someone else's tent, the solar powered lamp in my hand not helping my balance, which wasn't great anyway considering the number of beers I'd had over the course of the evening. I grabbed out at Helios' arm to steady myself, swaying a little. The bonfire was just a small fizzle of light behind us, almost completely died down with only the camp guide there to make sure it went out, and everyone else had already returned to their tents, or were making their way to them.

Quote Begin Where's our tent? This's our tent?Quote End I asked, a hushed stage-whisper, rubbing at my face as Helios seemed to lead the way. My eyes felt sore and tired and were probably red from the bonfire which my clothes absolutely reeked of, but my brain, in a drunken way, was alive and alert.

I purposefully fell forward onto my knees on the small piece of groundsheet outside the tent door, which would kill the next morning, put the solar light on the floor next to me and started fiddling with the tent zip. A thought suddenly occurred to me and I stopped, swaying slightly from my crouching position. Quote Begin Hey, did we sort out the bed stuff... sleeping stuff... earlier?Quote End I asked, frowning up at Helios' face which was just visible in the gloomy glow from the lamp. I could remember dumping all the blankets and sleeping things in the tent along with my main bag, but not arranging them or even taking them out of the bags I and Mary-Ann had bought them in.

It was strangely easier for me to get sucked into the festivities. Normally my guard would be working over time in the open like this, but the entire feeling of camping with a large group of people was just grand and infectious. Maybe I had a bit too much to drink, and maybe that alone was blocking any feelings of danger in the surrounding woodlands. Maybe it was the alcohol that made me so carefree. It was probably a bad thing, but even before I had my first sip I didn't have any feelings of danger. It just did not seem logical for any creature to attack such a large group where witnesses could possibly run free.

With the spare sleeping bag and pillow tucked under my arm I tried to lead the way as cautiously as I possibly could. But I could sense that my steps were not as precise and carefully placed as they normally would have been. In fact, you could even say they were sloppy. I felt intent on walking straight ahead, but every now and again a step would stray from the path and I'd have to stumble my feet back into place in the right direction. It was a tedious task, walking. So much, that the sight of the tent had me feeling excited rather than awkward. It was not that the idea of sharing a tent with Lenny was horrible, in fact, it had nothing to do with him. I just could not remember the last time I slept with someone by my side.

It might be. If it is not, then I guess we are sharing with anyone inside. I hope there is room. I smiled, but my expression morphed into confusion as I honestly could not remember if we had rolled out his sleeping bag. I... Guess we will find out? I pulled my body upright and wobbled there for a moment as I honestly tried to remember for the life of me if we had. I suppose it was not that important, but for some reason it felt like it was.

Without hesitation I reached forward to place my hand over his to move the zipper around. I was not impatient, I was just not sure how long I could deal with the mosquito's at the back of my neck. When my eyes met the inside, it was very clear that we had not arranged everything inside. The fire had kept me warm, but my hands by now were pretty frozen, and the minimal light of the lamp made the task ahead of us feel nearly impossible. Damnit.

My brain was fuzzy and slow enough that by the time I'd noticed how cold Helios' hand was over mine, or even that he was touching my hand at all, let alone almost gripping it, he'd already removed it and the flap of the tent was open. I lapsed back into conversation from the strange headspace I'd almost gone into and grinned, not even noticing my full body shiver from the cold. Quote Begin It would be so weird if we did end up having to sleep with a whole load of people or something.Quote End I grinned at Helios, which then faded when I saw the obviously unprepared inside of the tent. I threw the solar powered lantern onto some of the blankets Mary-Ann had insisted on giving me in case we got cold, grabbed Helios' borrowed sleeping bag and pillow and threw them in too, and tugged Helios into the tent.

I entered the tent in a mix between a dive and just collapsing through the opening, trying to pull at my boots as I went. If I'd tried to do one think at a time I might have been able to do it well, but multiple things just led to me splayed across the expanse of tent with my boots still firmly on my feet. I kicked them off my feet as quickly as possible and groaned, finally in the tent.

Helios zipped up the doorway pretty quickly and I shuffled about on the mix of blankets, my sleeping things and Helios' borrowed ones, which were very comfy and completely shielding my body from the ground. It was like lying on a giant, if uneven, pillow. They were cold though, noticably with the frigid night air after being sat around the bonfire. I hadn't even realised how much it had kept us warm until we were without it.

I pulled the sleeves of my sweater down to cover my hands and huddled up slightly on the assortment of things to try and get warm again. Quote Begin It probably won't take long to sort it all out. Just.. setting stuff out and shit, and I dunno, it's not hard.Quote End I said, watching Helios as I spoke, even as my mind was elsewhere. I was thinking about moving everything and making up sleeping spaces, seeing how easy it would be in my mind... and yet I didn't move off of any of the things.

I rubbed at my arms with my covered hands and focused back in on Helios, blinking as if he hadn't been there before. Quote Begin Hey, Helios?Quote End I began, trying to shift so my head was at least upright, leaning on my hand. Quote Begin Can I ask you something?Quote End

Unpleasant, definitely. I thought for a moment, I suppose that depends on the company too. I would not mind it so much if... Nevermind, let's get inside. I may have been slightly intoxicated, but that did not mean I did not know when to bite my tongue. Even if the idea of being forced to sleep in a tent beside Mila Kunis was not exactly terrible.

The thought was interrupted when Lenny pulled me inside and I quickly zipped up the doorway before too many bugs became attracted to the light and slipped inside. I sat down and reached forward to begin slipping off my shoes, and placed them in the far corner before slipping off my jacket and carefully laying it against the side of the tent. The cold air that met my arms and back when I removed it was welcome at first, but was quickly becoming unpleasant.

I ran my fingers through my hair, pushing it back away from my face before falling backwards. My head landed on something soft, I wasn't sure what it was but it didn't matter. My eyes immediately closed, while I was still awake, they were burning from staring at the flame of the fire, and it felt nice to give them a rest. mmhmm I lightly nodded my head. It was a response to him, but also an agreement with the soft thing under my head, as if I was thanking it for letting me rest on it.

I opened one eye at the sound of Lenny's tone changing and directed it in his direction before opening the other and rolling over to my side so I could face him. Of course.

It felt so cozy in the tent, but at the same time I was so buzzed. Relaxingly buzzed, if that made any sense. I felt in a state where I could just lay there and feel sleepy, but not actually be able to sleep because I had too much energy. I stretched out, letting my limbs lay lax across all the blankets.

My gaze darted back to Helios when he spoke and I once again shifted. Quote Begin Uh...Quote End I began, wondering at first how to put the thoughts in my head into words. I'd been wondering about it since earlier that day, before the bonfire had even been started, and it just wouldn't get out of my mind. Quote Begin Do you like blondes?Quote End I blurted out, thinking of the girl we'd met earlier and the strange way Helios had looked at her and watching Helios for an answer.
