setting
Index was once a small and close-knit community, but the town located on the western side of Washington state has grown in recent years beyond anyone's expectations. It is the ideal place for those who work in Seattle but can't afford the city's high real estate prices, and for others the natural beauty attracts them to the town. And Index truly is a beautiful place - surrounded by thick evergreen trees, tall mountains and glistening rivers and lakes. While weather is typically rainy with overcast skies even this does nothing to take away from the beauty of the town, and it is only highlighted further when the heavy snow graces the town and caps the mountains in winter. To many, Index would seem like a paradise. And yet lurking beneath this visual beauty there is more to this town than anyone might ever imagine...

Current Time in Index, Washington:
rules
PLAYBYS: Sims from the games Sims 2, 3 and 4 are used to visually represent player’s original characters (no characters from within the franchise are allowed). But, you do not need these games to join and roleplay! If you wish, you can post a thread in our out of character / general forum and list as many physical details about your character as you wish. The members of Index will happily try and make a character for you, and you can choose which one you feel best fits your vision.

AVATARS: Avatars should display your characters face clearly and should be at least 200 pixels tall, and 200 pixels wide.

THREADING & POSTING: When threading with multiple characters, it is important that you post only when it is your turn. This can be acheived by taking note of who has posted before you, and remember you are to always post after them. If you were the thread starter, then it is your turn after the final person has joined your thread.

When creating a thread you are required to place a tag before the title. Here are a list of types of thread you can create and how to tag each one:

[Open] Anyone is welcome to join your thread, with no limit on the number of characters.
[Open - #] Anyone is welcome to join your thread, but there is a limit on the number of characters who can join. Replace the # with how many extra characters you will allow to join your thread.
[Private] Only specific characters can join your thread.
[Closed] This tag should be used for threads that only involve your character.

ACTIVITY: To keep threads moving, people are encouraged to post within three days when it is their turn. If you do not post within three days, and you have not asked people to wait for you, it is possible you will be skipped. Keep in mind this is just a suggestion. While we'd love for everyone to be active every day, we understand that real life and other hobbies are just as important, if not more. We want you to be active because you want to be, not because a rule is telling you to be.

MATURITY RATING: Public threads should all be PG. If roleplayers above the age of 18 wish to post content that could be could be considered graphic then it should be hidden from view using the [hide] [/hide] code, which will enable only those in the threads and administrators to view the content.

I liked to remember being Eva as knowing a lot about a previous life. Some things were crystal clear, some things were a blur, and I knew I wasn't the same person. I did remember that Eva drank wine, and kept it stocked in her fridge at all times. That's one of the strong reminders that I was no longer her. I tried and tried to drink it, get my tastes used to it, but it just never worked. Not that straight up vodka or whiskey were any better, but at least they got the job done quicker. But if I wanted something to sip, I found a good whiskey sour could definitely be my friend.

Yes, yes, too bad the drinks and the cheap don't usually go together, I winked. I headed in and gravitated toward the bar, not having any specific memories, but knowing I'd been in the place before. As Eva or as Claire? I wasn't sure, maybe both. Yes, definitely the bar. First round can be on me. I hopped up onto a stool and caught the attention of the man at the bar, easily with a smile.

"What can I get for you ladies?"

Whiskey sour and whatever she'd like. I placed my clutch on the bar, in my sight. Maybe it was strange, but I swear that was one of the things I hated most about being a lady, even when it came to periods. (Maybe I was biased, mine were really mild.) Having to carry a clutch or bag or something like that and not knowing what the hell to do with it, and the idea that I could easily get distracted and my life could so easily get taken away. I sort of had a feeling that pre-me Claire handled things differently.

So um... have you always lived in the area? I asked, hoping the topic of small talk wasn't too horrid.

I was in the midst of climbing onto one of the bar stools when Claire ordered. I grinned at the bartender. It might have been a little flirtatious. Not because I was interested in him, but because it was always a good idea to keep the barkeep on your good side. I couldn't decide immediately what I wanted. To be fair, I didn't drink liquor very often. I usually didn't have the spare cash. I'll have the same...

Once I was seated, I crossed my legs and turned towards Claire, one of my elbows on the edge of the bar surface, No, not really. I've kind of just spent the last couple years working my way north from California. Maybe someday I'll end up in Alaska.. I winked a little and studied her a bit. I couldn't help but look at her scars. I would never ask about them though. Not directly. What about you? Are you a local? It was after I asked the question that I casually glanced at the bartender who was working on our drinks. I liked to watch.

I then lifted my hand a bit in the midst of his mixology and got his attention, Can I have some lime in mine, please? He nodded and seemed more than happen to oblige. I smiled, thanked him and then looked back to my company. I'm actually still kind of hungry. You want to share some onion rings or... chicken strips or something?

I was kind of a bottomless pit.

That was one relief of mine, that would always help me keep down on the confusion. Both of my lives, apparently, had started out in Gold Bar, only a few minutes away. I could answer that question truthfully no matter who I answered as. Sometimes I wish I could do that, just wander, explore, but I’m just too… I just worry too much. Admittedly, I was a little jealous of people who knew how to do that, who knew how to get off those tracks that society seemed to put you on. I had been forced off of them, but it seemed like I put myself right back on them, trying to grasp for something to be normal in my life. So right back on the path. College, job, maybe marriage, a house. I think before, as Eva, I was very comfortable with that idea. But now, it just made me bored and restless.

I grew up in Gold Bar, down the road, still have family there. I watched the bartender, just for a brief moment, and then turned back to my new acquaintance. I hear the nachos here are like.. a dietary staple, but sure, that sounds awesome. I found a little appetizer menu, and knew that technically, I should wait on Chase, but I hadn’t figured on him test-driving some stranger’s car before dinner, either, so I felt completely valid in ordering at least something to hold me over. But whatever you want, I’ll eat about anything.

So, which part of California? The funny thing about that place, so many different climates in one state. Sometimes it seems like its own country.
