setting
Index was once a small and close-knit community, but the town located on the western side of Washington state has grown in recent years beyond anyone's expectations. It is the ideal place for those who work in Seattle but can't afford the city's high real estate prices, and for others the natural beauty attracts them to the town. And Index truly is a beautiful place - surrounded by thick evergreen trees, tall mountains and glistening rivers and lakes. While weather is typically rainy with overcast skies even this does nothing to take away from the beauty of the town, and it is only highlighted further when the heavy snow graces the town and caps the mountains in winter. To many, Index would seem like a paradise. And yet lurking beneath this visual beauty there is more to this town than anyone might ever imagine...

Current Time in Index, Washington:
rules
PLAYBYS: Sims from the games Sims 2, 3 and 4 are used to visually represent player’s original characters (no characters from within the franchise are allowed). But, you do not need these games to join and roleplay! If you wish, you can post a thread in our out of character / general forum and list as many physical details about your character as you wish. The members of Index will happily try and make a character for you, and you can choose which one you feel best fits your vision.

AVATARS: Avatars should display your characters face clearly and should be at least 200 pixels tall, and 200 pixels wide.

THREADING & POSTING: When threading with multiple characters, it is important that you post only when it is your turn. This can be acheived by taking note of who has posted before you, and remember you are to always post after them. If you were the thread starter, then it is your turn after the final person has joined your thread.

When creating a thread you are required to place a tag before the title. Here are a list of types of thread you can create and how to tag each one:

[Open] Anyone is welcome to join your thread, with no limit on the number of characters.
[Open - #] Anyone is welcome to join your thread, but there is a limit on the number of characters who can join. Replace the # with how many extra characters you will allow to join your thread.
[Private] Only specific characters can join your thread.
[Closed] This tag should be used for threads that only involve your character.

ACTIVITY: To keep threads moving, people are encouraged to post within three days when it is their turn. If you do not post within three days, and you have not asked people to wait for you, it is possible you will be skipped. Keep in mind this is just a suggestion. While we'd love for everyone to be active every day, we understand that real life and other hobbies are just as important, if not more. We want you to be active because you want to be, not because a rule is telling you to be.

MATURITY RATING: Public threads should all be PG. If roleplayers above the age of 18 wish to post content that could be could be considered graphic then it should be hidden from view using the [hide] [/hide] code, which will enable only those in the threads and administrators to view the content.

It's not over yet, Chase, you have two more days. You can get a lot done with a little help, I said as I closed the door to Chase's car.
"Help? You offering?"
Of course.

He started to protest, and I knew exactly what he'd say, that he'd love to teach me some things when he had the time, but for now it would just make things take longer. He didn't get it, I was a fast learner, and I'd picked up on a hell of a lot about cars just by watching him.
You can get the car ready way before Sun- I stopped, knowing that he obviously wasn't listening. The car that had grabbed his attention this time had beat them all. I knew, I mean he'd taught me a lesson with his SHO, but this? I mean come on. Surely this little bucket of rust, seriously, wasn't anything anyone actually wanted to drive? But then again, I'd seen something not too unlike it at the track and it blew a gorgeous Camaro in the dust. Maybe I was a little vain, but I still would have rather been in the Camaro.

"It's... it's magnificent."
Chase, c'mon, the owner's gonna come out here and kick your ass. Does it even go fast? This thing doesn't look like it holds much more than a four banger, and an old ass one at that.
"Not everything has to go fast, Claire."
You're one to talk, I muttered under my breath.
"Claire! That hurts!" All I could do was laugh, and seriously hope the owner wasn't ready to come out any time soon.
Do you think this person like... chose this car? Someone trying to be kitsch? Or like.. is this what life put in their lap?
"You mean do they appreciate the treasure they own? I doubt it."
He actually began to stroke the car, from hood, to top, back down the hatch and to the trunk.
Don't touch it, Chase, geeze!"

She’s a real beaut… isn’t she?

It wouldn’t be the first time I’d caught someone molesting my car. Sure, it was old… and pretty ugly, but it was like one of those things that was so ugly it was beautiful. The paint was in relatively good condition except for around the wheel-wells and a little bit on the rear fender.

My afternoon had left me starving and since the cash I had on-hand was dwindling I had been on the prowl for some cheap eats. I had originally gone into the pub but all they had was onion rings and chicken tenders and I just wasn’t in the mood for heart burn, plus, it was $10 so I’d found a convenience store down the street and grabbed a corn dog instead. It was only ninety-nine cents! I took a bite of the American oddity and approached the couple eyeballing my home on the road.

As I chewed I took a thorough look over the dark-haired girl and her cute friend. I admired her outfit, his hair, and their appreciation for the ‘finer’ things in life.

My eyes shot wide open at the sound of the voice. I tried my best to pick out any sound of annoyance or sarcasm at what she said, but reading strangers really wasn't my strong suit. I elbowed Chase, just after speaking I told you! under my breath.

"Ow! Damn, Claire, I'm not blind!" He rubbed the spot as if I'd actually hurt him, then walked up tot he car's owner. "No, she really is. Does she have a name?" I rolled my eyes, but really it didn't take long for a girl to feel a little threatened, did it? She was pretty, gorgeous even, and obviously could take things in stride. Up to and including a stranger stroking your property.

Sorry about him, he's an enthusiast, I said, and I truly was apologizing, but there was some childish girly part of me that wanted my presence to be known. I mean, I am too, a little bit. But not enough to want this thing.

My focus was primarily on the dark-haired guy as he seemed more genuine in his curiosity. This chick must have been his… girlfriend so I decided to tread lightly. No need stepping on any toes and Gaia knows I’m clumsy enough as it is. In a diplomatic act, I addressed her first.

Oh yeah? I honestly don’t really know very much about cars aside from how to fill the gas tank and clean the windshield. I offered her a little smile and then looked to her friend as he approached. I stood at the rear flank of the passenger’s side and stopped there, corndog in hand. My mother always called her Felina. You know, after that old Marty Robbins song "El Paso"? I guess it’s because it’s a Ford Fiesta and she thought she needed a Mexican name and theme song.

The corn-breaded, processed meat stick was too delicious to avoid eating for too long. Plus, it was still hot. No one liked cold corn dogs.  As I feasted, I pulled my car keys out of my bag and unlocked the passenger’s door. It opened with an aged creak similar to an old woman’s joints on the night before a big rain storm. After I tossed my bag inside I offered the keys to the motorhead. You want to go for a drive?

So I wasn't as dirty minded as guys typically were, but I couldn't claim complete innocence since the corndog even pissed me off a little bit. I really didn't want to be that kind of girlfriend, like the kind of girl to take every glance as someone trying to steal your man. And then for as long as I remembered (which was something that was getting shorter and shorter) I recalled thinking that if I had to worry about someone "stealing my man" I didn't want the dude anyway. But honestly, my fears did begin to subside, at least temporarily, because Chase yes was listening to the stranger, but his eyes were stuck on Felina or whatever. Okay, I couldn't say shit, I'd named my car, and I even kind of liked her name. It wasn't as easy as Arya.

I um.. I ddn't, but I'm learning. Wasn't much learning to it. And I wasn't clueless about what was going on. It was yet another reminder that I wasn't Eva anymore. My knowledge base was different. I knew things that Claire knew, not Eva. That was why my memories were getting a little murky, and I wasn't really trying to fight that either.

I call mine Arya. Chase never said he hated the name, but he never said he liked it either. And, well he didn't have to tell me what he thought of it. Even as enamored as he was with Felina, I could have sworn I still got a split second stink-eye. But he knew better for it to be anything more than that.

"Wait, no way! Are you serious? I couldn't."

But that was an extremely half-hearted "I couldn't". And any normal girl would be upset, about it ruining dinner plans or the night out, but I had come to learn that nothing would ever go as planned with Chase, and I was okay with that. In fact, admittedly, I was a little excited about the adventure. That is, until I realized I wasn't... necessarily invited. I didn't know, and shit, I knew I'd be crunched up in the back seat even if I was invited. So much for me trying to be a level-headed girlfriend.

Yeah, you two have fun. I'll be inside. And I started for the entrance but before I knew it Chase was grabbing my hand.

"Claire? Listen, I promise I won't take long. If I play my cards right I might be able to buy this thing."
