I made a noise at Helios’ words, not really hearing them. The cigar had smelled different, as in different to the ones my father used to smell. Similar, maybe…. But not the same.
Maybe..
I replied. I thought it over and yawned again, still stretched sideways over the bed with my legs hanging off.
I frowned at the time - ten thirty four? It wasn’t late at all, but I felt slightly achy and ridiculously tired – all from sitting in a car all day. It was strange, but then I was also too tired to dwell on it too much. I was just fucking tired.
Yeah…. Away from the creepy woman.
I agreed, grunting as I finally rolled over and awkwardly tried to get inside the bed while moving as little as possible.
Yeah, scopa, it’s a good game, you’ll like it…it’s fun… and then you can teach me chess like when we met, and I can beat my brother…
I wriggled underneath the comforter and pulled it up to my neck, losing half the words into my pillow as I collapsed into it. I rolled over onto my side and the mattress squeaked, making me roll my eyes and then chuckle to myself as I thought about it more. Squuueaakk.
My chuckling immediately stopped when Helios mentioned he was a morning person and I groaned, throwing an arm over my eyes.
Not early.
I groaned again, and the mattress groaned too when I shifted on it.
What's early... like... not before.. ten?

I snorted with laughter, pressing the comforter against my face that was screwed up with disgust.
Oh fuck, fuck, you did not… that’s so fucking… fuck.
Was all I could say, trying to shake the image out of my head.
That’s so gross!
Uh… just wake me up ten minutes before we need to leave or whatever.
I mumbled, shifting again and this time the mattress not making a series of sounds. I closed my eyes, sleep starting to set in, when I heard the flick of the light switch. My eyes shot back open. I stared out into the dark for a few seconds, wetting my lips, before I spoke up.
Helios? I.. uh, could.. could you turn the light back on? It’s.. it’s just… I wasn’t going to sleep yet, I was.. I was gonna do. . stuff..
I lied, trailing off and trying not to let the blackness of the room feel like it was suffocating me. I closed my eyes again and pushed my face into the pillow.
The beach had been really fucking cold and I'd only looked out at the sea a second before I'd had enough, but the stores near it were all awesome. I held a bag that was mostly full of various candies but also contained a few other things - a bear plushy wearing a t-shirt with the name of the beach on it for Avery, a huge keyring for Mary-Ann because she always lost the fucking shop keys and a really awesome mug for myself that had a picture of the beach on it, but when it wasn't all rainy and shit. The stuff was so awesome and as I actually had money it was kind of hard not to buy it all. I even managed to buy a lighter when Helios was distracted, for him to light his cigars with (even if they did make him seem weird and old).
We were walking down the sidewalk, an ice-cream in my hand, when I noticed the place.
Hey, look, a tattoo shop.
I nudged Helios to get him to stop and went over to the window.
You could get a tattoo on your other cheek.
I taunted, and then stopped grinning when I noticed one of the pictures in the window.
Hey - look! They actually do fucking tattoos of ice-creams.
I stared at it in awe, and then glanced back to Helios, feeling a rush of adrenalin shoot through me.
I want to get it.

I had only purchased one thing all day. It cost me one dollar and eight cents to insert a penny into a coin press machine. It printed a scene of the beach with the name ''Oregon'' in the center. It was the only souvenir I ever cared to have from any location. I could not get one everywhere, but this one was special because it would be new to my collection and not a duplicate.
My eyes followed the direction Lenny was speaking and I smiled at his comment.
I looked to him with surprise, and without saying a word I opened the door for him.
The tattoo design,. Location and rough size
I nodded at Helios, still feeling the excitement at the idea of getting the tattoo. Just do. I stepped through the door after Helios, feeling a bit lost amongst all the pictures when I was inside.

I gripped at the edge of the tattoo chair, torn between watching and not watching as the pen thing buzzed down near my leg. Lifting my gaze to Helios, I sent him a grin. It didn’t hurt anything like I thought it would, just a strange scratchy, almost itchy pain that was easy to ignore with how excited I felt. Just the drawing thing they did before looked fucking awesome and I couldn’t wait to see it when it was finished.
When it was finally done I stared down at it, feeling… weird. But a really good weird. As I tried to listen to the shit the woman was saying I kept glancing down to it, even though it was covered. It… was something I actually wanted on my body.
